About the role
The Research Assistant will be making contributions to the research programme of the ESRC-funded Next Steps in Time Use Research (NeSTUR) project; contributing to the development of a system of new time-allocation-based social and economic indicators under the direction of NeSTUR’s Principal Investigator, and assisting the manager of the MTUS in the incorporation of new time diary datasets, from Less Developed Countries and from the Pacific Rim. An estimated two days per week will be dedicated to data harmonisation and three days focused on research and writing. This project is suitable for part-time or job-share working arrangements and is available until 31 July in the first instance.
About you
You have a strong Masters degree (completed or in progress) in a relevant discipline such as sociology, demography, economics, social statistics, public policy, data science, or a related field. You have an interest in time-use research, social surveys, or quantitative social science, and some experience working with survey or administrative data. You are comfortable using statistical software such as R, Stata, Python, or similar, or you are keen to further develop these skills as part of the role. You are well organised, detail-oriented, and able to follow methodological instructions carefully. You are able to work both independently and as part of a research team, and you are motivated to contribute to high-quality academic and policy-relevant research. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential.
