About the role

The appointee will join the Secretariat of the Lancet Countdown, an international and multi-disciplinary research collaboration based out of University College London's Institute for Global Health and contribute to the contributions of IDAlert towards the Europe Lancet Countdown. The postholder will work with the Head of Policy to contribute to engagement with technical officers across key stakeholder organizations and with policy officers within our partner universities.

The postholder will be responsible for co-developing and implementing the policy engagement, communications and evidence translation strategy for IDAlert, in a manner that supports the translation of IDAlert findings into policy, especially in the context of IDAlert's contributions to the Lancet Countdown in Europe. They will also be responsible for fostering strategic partnerships with key policy partners, coordinating and leading the development of policy documents, policy engagement events, and evidence translation materials.

This is a full-time role and it is available until May in the first instance. This role is available for sponsorship on the Skilled Worker route. Salary range: £54,000 to £64,000 per annum (including London Allowance), depending on experience.

About you

It is essential that the successful candidate has a Masters' level degree in political sciences, international relations, public health, sustainable development or a related subject, or equivalent experience. They will also have proven experience in policy engagement, advocacy or public affairs at a regional, national, or sub-national level, ideally within European policy contexts along with technical knowledge of European diplomacy and policy processes, and policy engagement techniques within European settings.

They will also be experienced in the translation of technical information to inform policy priorities and recommendations, specifically in the development of health policy, policy briefs or technical policy reports as well as policy outreach and stakeholder engagement. The post holder will have successful experience in project management, and the ability to work effectively independently using own initiative, including demonstrable experience in delivering outputs within tight timeframes. The successful candidate must have excellent diplomacy, interpersonal, and influencing skills with the ability to engage with national policymakers at all levels of seniority.
