Join to apply for the Consultancy Coordinator role at UCL Consultants Ltd. This is a full-time role within the company. Salary £37,000-£45,000 (dependent on experience).

This is a stimulating and varied role which will support the growth and delivery of projects by UCLC, working with world class academic experts. The role brings UCL’s expertise to life and supports the academic experts in making an impact for the benefit of business, government and society.

The role is to provide business development and process support to enable UCL’s academic community to undertake a broad range of consultancy activities with external clients in an efficient and effective manner.

The coordinator will manage their own portfolio of proposals for consultancy projects in the Built Environment/Engineering sector, from initial enquiry through to signing the business. You will deal with various stakeholders including internal teams, academic consultants and external clients and must have a confident, polished and client-facing manner.

The position holder will be responsible for identifying consultancy opportunities and service propositions, supporting client relationships, liaising with leadership for decisions on pursuing opportunities, supporting the development of proposals, managing internal compliance and approvals processes, developing costing and pricing budgets, and acting as a ‘go to’ resource within academic areas for matters relating to consultancy and UCLC. The role is part of a group of similar roles and offers opportunities to work with colleagues in other academic areas as part of the Business Development team led by UCLC.

The position reports to the Senior Consultancy Manager (Built Environment & Engineering).

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop a strong understanding of the academic capabilities and research objectives of UCL and how consultancy can support them, with a focus on prioritised areas that may change over time.
  • Provide advice, coordination and support on proposal development, costing, pricing and submission, liaising with academic and UCLC colleagues as appropriate.
  • Liaise with academic colleagues to develop consultancy service propositions to external clients.
  • Support academic staff in client relationship management in line with the consultancy strategy.
  • Liaise with UCLC Legal, Project Management, and Finance teams to realise opportunities.
  • Identify external consultancy opportunities in line with UCL and UCLC strategies, and confirm the right individuals to respond to a specific opportunity.
  • Support activities with other externally-facing services at UCL.
  • Obtain client feedback on completed consultancy projects as part of a process of continuous improvement.
  • Work expeditiously and with professionalism to ensure the business is organised efficiently.
  • Maintain absolute confidentiality regarding sensitive personnel, financial and commercial information.
  • Adhere to UCLC policies and participate in staff meetings and training as required.
  • Maintain awareness and observation of Fire and Health & Safety Regulations.
  • Undertake any other duties within the scope of the post as requested by the line manager.

Requirements

  • Experience in business development, proposal development, costing and pricing in a consultancy environment (Built Environment/Engineering preferred).
  • Strong client-facing communication skills and ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work efficiently, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to UCLC policies; awareness of Fire and Health & Safety regulations.
  • Ability to collaborate with academic experts and external clients within a team environment.
