UCL Constitution Unit
The UCL Constitution Unit is a leading research centre based at University College London, dedicated to the study and promotion of constitutional governance in the UK and beyond. Established in 1995, the Unit aims to enhance understanding of constitutional issues through rigorous academic research and public engagement.
Our core activities include:
- Research: Conducting in-depth studies on various aspects of constitutional law, including the role of Parliament, the judiciary, and the relationship between the state and citizens.
- Public Engagement: Organising events, seminars, and workshops to disseminate knowledge and foster discussions on constitutional matters among policymakers, academics, and the general public.
- Policy Advice: Providing expert advice to government bodies and other organisations on constitutional reform and related issues.
We are committed to promoting democratic values and the rule of law, ensuring that our research contributes to informed debates about the future of the UK’s constitution. The UCL Constitution Unit also collaborates with various stakeholders, including universities, think tanks, and civil society organisations, to broaden the impact of its work.
With a team of experienced researchers and practitioners, we strive to be at the forefront of constitutional scholarship, addressing contemporary challenges and exploring innovative solutions. Our vision is to create a more transparent, accountable, and participatory governance framework that reflects the needs and aspirations of all citizens.
