It is an exciting time to be joining the UCL HR Business Partnering team. We have recently gone through a review to further enhance our business partnering offering to our Faculties and Professional Services divisions. In doing this we have embedded a new entry-level role of Associate HR Business Partner into each of our HRBP teams. This role also introduces a new and clear career pathway within HR business partnering and signals the start of a fulfilling and rewarding career for members of our team.

About The Role

We are hiring an Associate HR Business Partner to provide support across the Faculties of Life and Medical Sciences. This role provides support to the HR Business Partners with the implementation of people-focused initiatives and activities within the client group. The postholder will work closely with local HR-focused staff within the Faculties and with other Business Partners from across the wider HR Business Partnering team. The role will be varied and impactful.

The responsibilities of the role include:

  • Provision of high-quality support and advice to line managers, including first-line employee relations guidance and input into HR and Diversity initiatives.
  • Supporting the management of organisational change processes.
  • Coordinating and undertaking job evaluations and gradings.
  • Designing and jointly delivering individual or group workshops on HR procedures and policies.
  • Collating HR metrics data for the Faculties.
  • Supporting senior recruitment processes as required.

The successful candidate will support the four HRBPs and Senior HRBP by partnering with junior and middle managers, as well as local HR colleagues, within the following group of world and sector-leading faculties: Brain Sciences, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, and Population Health Sciences.

About You

The successful HR professional will have the ability to work effectively in a Human Resources environment within a complex organisation. You will have a proven track record of providing high-quality advice to managers on a range of HR policies, procedures, and best practices.

You will demonstrate outstanding organisational skills and experience in delivering high-quality HR administrative support. We are looking for a candidate who has advised and handled a range of first-line complex HR issues—such as disciplinaries, grievances, change management, and TUPE.

Experience in designing and jointly delivering individual or group training workshops on HR-related topics is essential. We are seeking a high-calibre individual who can quickly build and develop effective and trusted working relationships with managers and staff.

You should also be able to compile HR data metrics and provide analysis support where necessary.

We are currently operating hybrid working within the HR Division, and you will have the opportunity to work remotely for up to three days a week if you wish. You must be available to work on-site on Mondays and one additional day each week.
