The Kit Wilson Trust rescue and re-home unwanted animals, mainly cats and dogs, and have a wildlife rehabilitation program and an emergency helpline. The Trust’s Rescue Centre is also home to horses, donkeys, cats, goats, birds and small mammals where, in the interest of their welfare, they remain in their care. They have shops located in Hailsham, Heathfield and Uckfield.

What is a Volunteer Stock Sorter? Volunteer stock sorters play a vital role in supporting our charity’s goals by helping manage incoming donations at our donation hub in Ridgewood, Uckfield. As a stock sorter, you will be sorting, organising, categorising and preparing donations ready for our charity shops to sell and raise money for The Kit Wilson Trust.
What’s involved?
- Sorting Donations: Inspecting and sorting incoming donations, including clothing, household items, toys, books, and other goods.
- Categorising Items: Organise donations by department, quality, and condition, ensuring items are sorted according to established guidelines.
- Quality Control: Assess the condition of donations, selecting items suitable for sale and setting aside any that are damaged or unsuitable.
- Preparation for Sale: Prepare items for display in our shops, including hanging, steaming, labelling and cleaning.
- Maintaining Work Areas: Keep the sorting areas clean, organised, and safe, following all health and safety guidelines.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other volunteers and staff to ensure smooth operations and effective communication.
