Uckfield Area Care Drivers provide a vital free service to the elderly in getting them to doctor and hospital appointments. Under previous names, the charity has been operating for over twenty-five years.

They are in need of drivers, able to transport elderly persons from their homes to their medical appointments at whatever hospital or clinic is required. They cover the TN22 area surgeries as well as hospitals at Brighton, Haywards Heath, Eastbourne, East Grinstead, Crowborough, Redhill, Lewes, Bexhill, Pembury, and Hastings.

Drivers will only be required to give up a few hours of their time. Mileage expenses can be claimed at 55p per mile. Parking fees are also reimbursed. Insurance companies will need to be informed that you are taking people to appointments but because it is on a voluntary basis and there is no hire charge, no added costs will be incurred.

This is an extremely flexible position to volunteer for; you’ll be able to offer your time as and when it suits you, and be helping out enormously people who would otherwise struggle to reach their needed appointments, or vaccinations.
