Overview

Uckfield Town Council is the third tier of local government in our town.

We serve Uckfield by maintaining green spaces, sports facilities, playgrounds and several buildings around the town, as well as supporting community activities through grants, activities we host ourselves and support from our Councillors.

Opportunity

We require volunteers to assist with stewarding Weald on the Field 2026.

The free family festival takes place on Luxford Field on Saturday 8th August 2026, from 11am to 7pm.

With over 1,000 visitors expected at the event, we need help with doing checks of the field, emptying bins, managing our car park, liaising with stallholders, and communicating any messages from attendees to the lead organisers.

Shifts can range from two hours to the full eight hours of the festival.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with stewarding at the Weald on the Field 2026 festival (Luxford Field, Saturday 8 August 2026, 11am–7pm).
  • Perform checks of the event area and help with crowd and safety management as directed.
  • Empty bins and assist with general site cleanliness.
  • Manage the car park and provide directions to attendees as needed.
  • Liaise with stallholders and communicate any messages from attendees to the lead organisers.
  • Convey shifts and operational information to volunteers and organisers.

Requirements

  • Volunteers must be over the age of 16.
  • We are looking for people who are Uckfield-based, but volunteers based outside the town can have mileage payments discussed.
