As one of the first preserved heritage lines in the country, we boast one of the finest collections of vintage steam locomotives and carriages, many of which were preserved directly from service on British Railways. Our historic line commenced services in August 1960 and today runs steam trains between Sheffield Park and East Grinstead, with stops at Horsted Keynes and Kingscote.

Join the Bluebell Railway Fundraising & Trust Support Team (Voluntary Role). The Bluebell Railway is one of the UK's leading heritage railways, dedicated to preserving the past for future generations. A vital part of this work is fundraising – ensuring we have the resources to maintain, restore, and grow our railway. We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to join our Funding Team and Bluebell Railway Trust support team.
About the Role
We are developing a new Funding Strategy, which will help us decide what to apply for, where, and when. To make this happen, we need people who can assist with:
- Drafting and developing funding applications
- Researching data and opportunities
- Managing and monitoring grant applications
In addition, the Bluebell Railway Trust carries out important day‐to‐day work, such as liaising with donors, handling legacies, and managing accounts. We are also looking for volunteers with skills in:
- Administration
- Bookkeeping

If you’d like to put your skills to work supporting one of Britain’s most iconic heritage railways, we’d be delighted to hear from you. These are ongoing roles and will be substantially done from home. When and how much is at the discretion of the volunteer. There is no age limit for this role, and a DBS check is not required. Please be aware that occasional visits to Sheffield Park station are required and the public transport is very limited.
