A broad role advising and supporting a variety of teams, working closely with the Health & Safety Manager to maintain and develop UCCs Health and Safety systems and performance. The role covers multiple sites and will require an amount of travel.
The Role
- Be the day-to-day H&S point of contact being visible and interacting with employees and managers.
- Monitor H&S processes and support the resolution of identified issues with the relevant manager.
- Ensure legal requirements such as risk assessments, LOLER inspections and COSHH are in place and being maintained.
- Oversee incident reporting process to ensure timely completion of investigation and action close out. Use available data to highlight issues and provide focus for improvement.
- Ensure systems for auditing and reviewing H&S performance are monitored and updated.
- Provide awareness updates and assist with training to increase H&S awareness and competency.
- Identify and elevate issues such as reportable incidents, trends and changing legislation.
- Assist with customer tenders, questionnaires, ad hoc projects and queries.
- Support environmental matters (waste, spills, energy) and form part of the wider EHS Team.
- Improve H&S performance by aligning ways of working and processes across the business.
- Adhoc Health & Safety tasks deemed necessary and aligned with the role.
The Person
- H&S background with experience across a wide range of H&S topics.
- Strong understanding of H&S legislation and compliance requirements.
- NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent qualification) and experience required.
- Self-starter with an analytical and methodical approach to work, able to both complete tasks and develop new systems as necessary.
- Professional manner with strong interpersonal/communication skills and persuasive abilities.
- Good knowledge of ISO45001 and 14001 management systems.
- Confident user of Microsoft Office and business applications.
- Strong organisational ability and experience.
- Strength of character to remain dedicated to delivering the right result.
- Able to work collaboratively and foster a safety-first culture.
- Site based with regular travel to other UCC locations and customer sites, this will include nights away.
Salary: Up to £40k (Dependent on Experience)
