As part of our Technical team you will be working closely with Customers, NPD and Production teams to deliver, innovative and exciting products from concept to full scale launch, working seamlessly to improve roasting process quality, whilst maintaining the highest level of customer service and company technical procedure adherence.
The Role
- Qualify and manage Sales and Customer bespoke coffee blend requests from creating and leading effective tasting experience sessions for new business opportunities to bespoke coffee blend requests, including tasting and sensory checks for product approval.
- Provide support and feedback to NPD requests regarding new coffee blend creation and complete relevant documentation (Create roasting blends and roast profile for new products).
- Lead and guide multidisciplinary project groups, contributing insights and experiences, recording the established process conditions in production recipes; after approval, implementation of optimizations in the current business.
- Introducing ideas for improving production processes (efficiency, stability) including roasting, grinding, and packing process (in terms of roast profile, colour, moisture content, quenching water, grinding grades and standards).
- Ability to resolve process issues, with hands-on can-do approach whilst being able to problem on the spot by thinking outside the box, understanding the root cause and describe coherence to identify possible causes, collecting relevant data with a view to resolving and supporting production and engineer teams and devise new method of working for the process control.
- Identify, assess, and investigate process and production issues with a hands-on approach to establish innovative possibilities for improvement or elaboration in project plans to continually improve documented production processes/controls increasing product quality across the product portfolio.
- Responsible for procedurally detailing and reporting on small roasting, transfer to large scale roasting, packaging and NPD trials, so all technical informative is gathered and recorded. Create, develop and maintain training plan to increase UCCs internal coffee culture skills, and sensory capabilities.
- Participate, lead or manage adhoc tasks to assist and support UCCs coffee development programme for existing and new products to meet customer requirements and to support targeted growth.

- Trained and skilled in food and drink sensory, ideally coffee
- Can manage several multidisciplinary projects simultaneously, delivering results on time
- Ability to drive innovation, demonstrating a strong continuous improvement mindset
- Solid project management skills with the ability to influence A resilient and calm communicator with broaden range of interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail with a methodical approach and style Confident user of Microsoft office applications and business ERP/MES systems
- Must be able to work at our Dartford site on a daily basis
- Flexible approach to work, hours and location with notice
