Make your mark for patients. We are looking for a dynamic and innovative Research Associate or Research Scientist to join our Target Validation and Tractability team in Slough, UK.
About the role
Contribute to new target validation work by developing and running suitable experiments to answer key questions, critical to generating novel therapeutic concepts. In addition to conducting lab research, the role requires data analysis, communication and presentation to research teams and accurate record‑keeping.
What you’ll do:
- Conduct laboratory experiments with guidance from senior scientists.
- Perform immune cell isolation, culture and stimulation using human or animal-derived samples.
- Assist in the development and execution of immunoassays (e.g., ELISA, multiplex cytokine assays, MSD).
- Perform cell culture work including maintenance, passaging and cryopreservation of cell lines and/or primary cells.
- Assist in the development and execution of cell‑based assays (e.g., antigen recall assays, gain/loss of function, proliferation assays, reporter gene systems, cytotoxicity assays, phagocytosis assays).
- Perform flow cytometry experiments to characterise cellular phenotypes.
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and optimise protocols.
- Analyse and interpret experimental data using appropriate software tools.
Education, experience and skills:
- Minimum BSc; PhD holders considered for Research Scientist level.
- Familiarity with standard laboratory techniques and equipment.
- Practical experience of cell culture, flow cytometry, ELISA and immunological assays.
- Understanding of immune system components and mechanisms.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
