We are looking for a Principal Scientist /Team Leader who is passionate and enthusiastic to join our In vitro Pharmacology team, based in Slough, UK.
About the Role
Reporting to the Head of In vitro Pharmacology, you will lead a small team to develop translational cell assays and, with the use of our automation platform, apply high throughput flow cytometry to drug screening and development. You will increase the value of the Patient Solutions portfolio by enabling the discovery and progression of pre and post candidate therapeutic molecules through the generation and analysis of in vitro data.
Who you’ll work with
You will be a member of the In vitro Pharmacology Leadership Team and have input into strategy and prioritisation of the broader functional team. You will work with project teams to develop and design assays that reflect the biology of the target and maintain grounded relationships with other stakeholders across the business, ensuring effective communication for pipeline progression.
What you’ll do
- Using a range of scientific competencies, develop relevant assays for drug screening, mechanism evaluation and target validation as appropriate.
- Guide and inspire junior scientists, enabling their delivery of key data and facilitating their personal development.
- With excellent communication and team working abilities, disseminate high quality data for wider review in cross-functional meetings.
- Contribute to the development and incorporation of new technologies and/or techniques and mentoring/training of other scientists.
- Using deep technical knowledge and experience of drug discovery, drive project progression in context with information from other business functions.

- Cell biology, immunology or pharmacology expert.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in flow cytometry, preferably use at high throughput and in drug discovery.
- Motivational and inspiring to colleagues, with experience of leading and coaching a small team or across disciplines.
- An interest or experience of automation and other screening methods.
- History of identification of lead molecules and/or adoption of new projects into the pipeline.
- Experience of managing resources to ensure performance is industry competitive.
