Business Unit Description
Our Finance and Corporate Services business unit is a fusion of multiple functions — financial planning and accounting, facilities and building management, procurement, programme and project management, corporate governance and performance, organisational development, enterprise architecture, legal and compliance, and the CEO Office.
The Finance Team also defines UCAS\’ financial strategy.

About The Role
To ensure UCAS provides a healthy and safe environment, and that it complies with relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation and regulations.
Key Accountabilities:
- Provide professional health, safety, and environmental support and advice across all business areas, with a particular focus on the Estates and Events teams, ensuring a health and safety culture
- Develop and maintain systems, policies, procedures and processes for the management of health and safety risks, and environmental impacts in the workplace to ensure the adherence to all relevant health, safety and environmental legislation and agreed internal standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports and implementing preventative measures. Ensuring the reporting of injuries, diseases and dangerous occurrences to meet statutory obligations.
- Provide HSE advice and guidance to management and employees to promote and ensure a culture of safety and environmental awareness.
- Deliver HSE training and induction programs to all new and existing employees.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation and company standards

Skills, qualifications, and experience
- Relevant qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, or a related field (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH).
- Proven experience as an HSE Advisor or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation and standards.
- Experience conducting risk assessments, audits, and investigations.
- Excellent communication and training delivery skills
- Ability to influence and work collaboratively with employees at all levels.
- Strong organizational and report-writing skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Detail-oriented and proactive.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
- Confident in leading and facilitating discussions around health, safety and environmental matters

Salary – up to £42,000
