Irlam, Manchester - field-based with regional travel

Salary: £33,280 – £45,760 (£14–£22 per hour dependent on experience)

Hours: Mon–Thu 07:15–16:15, Fri 07:15–13:15 (40 hours/week)

Holidays: 22 days plus 8 bank holidays

We’re supporting a growing, well-established SME that’s rapidly scaling its hoist-hire operations across the UK. With sustained investment, an expanding project portfolio and a commitment to operational excellence, the business is strengthening its engineering team with an additional Hoist Engineer.

This is a hands-on, customer-facing field role focused on the safe installation, servicing and maintenance of both inclined and vertical hoisting equipment used widely within construction settings. You’ll join a close, experienced engineering team and play a key part in ensuring clients can move materials safely and efficiently at height.

Taking on occasional nationwide assignments, including some overnight travel when required. Representing the company as a key technical contact, delivering excellent service on every site. Using digital tablet systems to complete job sheets, compliance notes and site documentation. Reporting to the Irlam depot each morning before heading out to customer locations.

We’re looking for a practical engineer who enjoys variety, autonomy and problem-solving in the field.

  • Hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical, plant or site-based engineering environments.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical awareness.
  • Full UK driving licence (Trailer licence an advantage but not essential).
  • CSCS card or NVQ Level 2/3 in Plant Installations desirable but not required.
  • Reliable, hands-on, and motivated by delivering high-quality engineering work.

Training & Development: Ongoing, hands-on training from an experienced engineering team.
