Responsibilities

  • Lead tax regulatory change programs across the UBS Asset Management division globally.
  • Manage and direct the appointment of external advisors if required in relation to tax regulatory change programs.
  • Assist in any regulatory projects where a tax expert is required (e.g. BEPS, ATAD 3, TRACE, FATCA, CRS, CARF, s871m, US PTP, Financial Transaction Tax).
  • Lead AM cross-border tax advisory and control support for the UBS Asset Management division globally.
  • Ensure that the AM business adheres to the Group Tax policies and supplements.
  • Build and maintain relationships with senior management and UBS Group stakeholders to establish and communicate tax priorities based on changing regulatory environments.
  • Engage the business in tax regulatory matters, reconciling the competing imperatives of the management of tax risk with commercial and regulatory drivers of the business.
  • Provide the business with regular updates and training on tax and regulatory developments.
  • Build and maintain relationships with UBS Group functions (e.g. Finance/Legal) and other UBS divisions (Investment Bank and Wealth Management).

Qualifications

  • Ideally 6+ years of experience in tax, regulatory or advisory roles within Financial Services, with a strong focus on regulatory change.
  • A recognised professional qualification (e.g. chartered accountant, chartered tax advisor, tax lawyer or equivalent) or a legal/regulatory background with strong tax exposure.
  • Hands-on experience monitoring tax regulations and delivering tax or regulatory change programs.
  • Solid global experience within Financial Services, ideally Asset Management.
  • Strong knowledge of key international tax and regulatory topics such as BEPS, ATAD 3, TRACE, FATCA, CRS, CARF, DAC 6, US PTP or financial transaction taxes.
  • Experience advising on cross-border tax matters, including permanent establishment risk in a financial services context.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and communicate effectively at all levels.
  • A forward-looking mindset, commercial awareness and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex environment.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required; German language skills are an advantage.

Team: The role will be in the AM business division (within the AM COO Area) and will report to the Global Head of AM Traditional Tax who is located in Hong Kong. As well as working closely with the AM business, the job holder will work with the global AM Tax team as well as with the UBS Group Tax colleagues.
