Key responsibilities
- Assist with the origination and execution of fund investments, co-investments, JVs, recapitalisations, and operational, GP stake, and secondaries investments in real estate private market transactions across EMEA.
- Contribute to thought leadership with our internal regional teams, evaluating existing portfolios and helping build external deal flow in a methodical and systematic way by market, asset class and via preferred and/or exclusive formats.
- Remain current on market developments to help frame sourcing and investment strategies.
- Convert industry insights into comprehensive investment recommendations and risk assessments.
- Lead, contribute to and develop workflows for liaising with internal committees, legal, operations, and tax/structuring staff, as well as external parties including fund managers, brokers/advisors, consultants, sellers, LPs and lenders. Negotiate terms, and underwrite investments at an asset- and portfolio-level, as well as test and scrutinise the underwriting of related partners and managers.
- Lead deal investment processes, including legal, tax, commercial, operational and structuring due diligence, managing the production, refinement and finalisation of due diligence materials.
- Manage and co-ordinate junior support and training, particularly around investment underwriting.
- Contribute to the development of underwriting templates for modelling, analysis and valuation across single assets, portfolios, operational real estate and funds, including roll-up analyses and financing overlays, and manage their implementation and use in transactions.
- Drive production of Investment Committee memorandums and recommendations of transactions to the UGA-RE Global Investment Committee.
- Contribute to the systematic processes and structures that help our oversight, monitoring and management of corporate and operational actions, as well as summary and forecast materials for client and investment reporting materials and meetings. Support asset and risk management, and the reporting of investments.
- Support fundraising efforts.
The team
You’ll be working in the Real Estate team in London within the Unified Global Alternatives Real Estate (“UGA-RE”) division, one of the world’s largest indirect real estate managers with USD 70bn+ of AUM. Since inception, UGA-RE’s platform has consistently grown and broadened its product shelf, deploying on average USD 5bn p.a. in unlisted real estate globally. Our team is responsible for the sourcing, selection and diligence of indirect investment opportunities for our dedicated funds and pools of capital. As an Investment Officer, you will play an important role in the origination, review/selection of real estate investments, and the monitoring of our portfolio in EMEA. This is a highly reputable team with direct access to high quality deal flow with best-in-class managers in the sector.
Your skills and experience
- Solid relevant experience in real estate private markets.
- Proficiency in a second European language is mandatory.
- Experience across funds, co-investments, JVs, secondaries and/or recapitalisations (but not mandatory).
- Excellent computer skills, including the application of AI models within investment underwriting, advanced use of Microsoft Office, financial modelling capability, and proficiency within programming (e.g., R or Python, etc.) is a strong plus.
- Demonstrate deep and advanced industry networks with principal real estate groups, fund managers, asset companies, LPs, financial advisors, brokers, valuers and sellers, essential across Europe.
- Strong underwriting capabilities.
- Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree, ideally with a post-graduate qualification (but not mandatory).
- Solution-oriented thinker with strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Organised and focused on results, with the ability to work accurately under pressure.
- Collaborative personality, committed team player with the ability to work independently.
