Your role involves supporting the origination and execution of M&A and Capital Markets transactions in the Infrastructure and Power sector in EMEA. You will actively contribute to key workstreams in live transactions, including financial modelling, due diligence, and the preparation of client deliverables. Collaboration with product partners, country coverage teams, and other sector coverage groups is essential to ensure seamless client coverage and execution of transactions.
You will make an impact across Infrastructure and Power verticals including Power, Utilities, and Infrastructure (ranging from Transport to Digital Infrastructure). Contributing innovative ideas and strategies to enhance client coverage and drive business growth is expected. You will develop a broad skills base, including an understanding of the range of UBS sector and product groups.
Your team consists of the Infrastructure and Power team within the Investment Banking division (UBS Global Banking), based in London. The team is one of the leading Infrastructure and Power franchises in EMEA, active in many of the sector’s landmark transactions, and has become a leader in sell-side M&A. As an Analyst, you will have responsibilities across different sub-sectors within the group, focusing on:
- Power and Renewables: Integrated Utilities, Power Generation (conventional and renewable), Regulated Energy Networks, Interconnectors, Energy Supply, Environmental Services
- Transport Infrastructure: Ports, Airports, Roads, Rail, Transport Services, Car Parks, Buses, Ferries, Cold Storage / Logistics, Leasing
- Value-add: Social Infrastructure, Modular Buildings, Infrastructure Services, Business Services
There are opportunities for cross-staffing with relevant adjacent sector teams including Digital Infrastructure (e.g., Data Centres, Towers, and Fibre) and Healthcare.
As an Analyst, you will provide critical analytical support in the team’s origination efforts and transaction execution, focused on M&A and Equity / Debt / Private Capital Markets transactions for both corporate and financial sponsor clients.
Your expertise:
- Strong academic results, including an undergraduate bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Ideally 1–2 years’ experience in investment banking (full time or internships), including both marketing/origination and transaction execution (with a focus on M&A).
- Excellent financial modelling experience (operating models / DCFs, merger modelling, LBOs).
- Strong analytical skills, high attention to detail, and well-developed problem-solving ability.
- Advanced Excel capability and experience producing high-quality PowerPoint materials.
- Collaborative working style and ability to build effective relationships across teams and regions.
- Ability to work under pressure and balance multiple transactions and workstreams simultaneously.
- Clear, confident communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Passionate and motivated about development of career and relationships both within UBS and with clients.
- Previous experience in an Investment Banking role within Infrastructure and Power or another industrial sector is beneficial but not necessary.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English is essential; additional languages are a plus but not required.
