Your role

Are you an experienced data engineer with strong Databricks expertise and an interest in financial analytics and production-grade data platforms? We’re looking for a Databricks Engineer to support the design, orchestration and reliability of HOLT data pipelines across HOLT’s Data Warehouse and R&D Databricks environments. You’ll work within UBS’s Data Production Factory to help ensure HOLT’s workflows are scalable, governed, secure and production-ready. In this role, you’ll combine hands-on technical engineering with analytical problem-solving. You’ll work closely with HOLT Technology, research, and business teams to build, improve and productionize data solutions used across HOLT.

You will:

  • design, operate and support Databricks-based data pipelines across HOLT environments
  • provision, configure and support Databricks platform services, including clusters, catalogs, secrets, monitoring and alerting
  • support deployment workflows, pipeline orchestration and data product lifecycle management
  • maintain and optimize cluster strategies for reliability, performance and cost efficiency
  • troubleshoot production issues across jobs, clusters, permissions and workflow dependencies
  • help standardize execution patterns across development, pre-production and production environments
  • coordinate sequencing and dependency management for multi-step data workflows
  • support the productization of new data products, models and analytical processes
  • maintain operational runbooks and recovery procedures for business-developed compute
  • support the stability of long-running jobs, notebooks and dashboards
  • align HOLT R&D workflows with production Data Warehouse standards
  • work with HOLT researchers on analytical and research-driven data initiatives
  • contribute to the modernization of HOLT’s data ingest, quality control and internal platform workflows
  • support broader UBS initiatives to modernize and standardize client access to research and data

Your team

You’ll be part of HOLT in the UBS Investment Bank. HOLT is a proprietary valuation and analytics platform that supports research, investment products, data solutions and client workflows across the firm. You’ll work at the intersection of HOLT Technology, the HOLT Data Warehouse team, platform engineering teams and the broader HOLT business. You’ll act as a technical liaison between engineering teams and business users, helping translate analytical needs into scalable Databricks-based solutions.

Your expertise

You have:

  • proven experience with Azure and Databricks in large-scale data environments
  • strong understanding of Spark, Hadoop ecosystems and big data engineering concepts
  • hands-on data engineering experience
  • experience delivering at least one end-to-end Databricks project
  • strong knowledge of Databricks job orchestration, workflows and APIs
  • experience with Databricks administration and enterprise platform controls
  • programming skills in Java, Python and SQL
  • experience with cluster lifecycle management, pipeline scheduling and dependency management
  • understanding of catalogs, access controls, secrets, monitoring and platform governance
  • strong troubleshooting and production support skills
  • ability to translate business and data requirements into technical solutions
  • effective communication skills across technology, platform and business stakeholders

You are:

  • delivery-focused, practical and comfortable working in a production environment
  • confident debugging existing workflows and supporting migration to Databricks
  • collaborative and able to bridge business, research and engineering teams
  • focused on reliability, governance, documentation and operational resilience
  • interested in financial data, research platforms and analytical workflows

It would be useful if you also have:

  • experience with Terraform or other DevOps technologies
  • familiarity with UBS Deploy or other UBS internal tooling
  • experience with Databricks asset bundles or similar deployment approaches
  • experience supporting notebooks, dashboards or business-developed compute
  • exposure to financial data, equity research, valuation analytics or investment datasets
  • You’re curious to explore how AI can improve how we build, deliver, and optimize workflows. You do this with sound judgment – validating outputs and aligning with policies, risk standards, and ethical use.
