Your role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Head of Zero Trust Engineering and Hardening to manage the modernization and automation of our firewall rule and policy exception hardening process in addition to leading our Network and Application engineering team whilst also aligning and driving Zero Trust Initiatives across Tech Services. The successful candidate will also play a crucial role in chairing and directing the Lateral Movement Forum and the External Connectivity Governance forums that set the direction of these topics within UBS.
• Experience with firewalls, firewall management and risk assessment
• Experience with firewall rule and network automation
• Experience with Zero Trust and external network connectivity
• Experience with security engineering and software engineering and development
• Experience with DDOS, IDS/IPS, WAF, WAP, Network detection and response
• Contribute to reduction of all security and operational risks, in line with policies and standards
• Identify opportunities to improve our processes
• Have a bias for action and ability to deliver

Your team
The Zero Trust Engineering and Hardening team is part of Cyber technology Strategy and Architecture and is about 50 people strong. It performs firewall rule assessment and management and engineering of core critical network security controls. Automation and process re-engineering is critical to the success of the team going forward, particularly the firewall rule management processes that risk assess, review and approve firewall requests, work needs to be done to optimize and modernize the way this is done to reduce risk within the bank.

• Ability to influence and work across orgs to drive key results and outcomes. There are key partnerships within Automation Services, Cyber Defense and Networks that must be developed and maintained to be successful
