About The Role

Lead the launch of an exciting new reuse shop and play a key role in turning unwanted items into valuable resources for the local community.

We're looking for an enthusiastic, commercially minded and environmentally conscious Reuse Shop Manager to establish and manage an exciting new reuse shop at Hempsted Recycling Centre.

This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of a brand-new service, helping to divert valuable items from waste and promote sustainability within our local community.

What you'll be doing

  • As a Reuse Shop Manager, you'll oversee all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the shop, including:
  • Managing and developing a small team, including recruitment support, training and performance management.
  • Creating staff rotas and ensuring the shop is effectively staffed and operational during opening hours.
  • Identifying, assessing and pricing donated items to maximise resale value and generate income.
  • Developing attractive merchandising displays that create a great customer experience.
  • Managing stock control, product rotation and sales performance.

This role will operate on summer and winter hours:
Summer 08.15 - 17.20 ( shop opening times 09.00 - 16.00 )
Winter 09.15 - 16.20 ( shop opening times 10am - 15.00 )

The working days are Saturday to Wednesday, the shop is closed on Thursday and Friday every week.

We're looking for someone who combines strong retail and people management skills with a passion for reuse and sustainability.

You will need

  • Full driving licence to be able to drive a range of company vehicles up to and including 3.5 tonnes gross weight
  • GCSEs (A-Cs or equivalent, including Maths and English)
  • Previous experience of managing a team
  • Experience of delivering excellent customer service in a retail environment
  • Good knowledge of Consumer Rights Act.
