Our public policy team is responsible for working with policymakers, regulators and external organisations to advocate for Uber as a platform, the drivers and couriers who find work on our app and the consumers who rely on us. That’s partly about building lasting relationships with key stakeholders in the places we operate across the UK by clearly articulating the benefits of Uber as a business. It is also about having a deep understanding of the political environment and developing campaigns to reach a range of audiences. Policy at Uber is business critical and has a real impact across our markets as we work to harness our technology responsibly and sustainably to Go anywhere and Get anything. It is for team‑players who are action‑oriented, excellent at communicating and committed to doing the right thing.

We are looking for someone to join Uber’s Public Policy team, based in London and reporting to the Director of Public Policy, UK. In this role, you will:

  • Lead Uber’s policy efforts across several critical subject areas in one of Uber’s largest and most important markets globally.
  • Work to ensure that the UK’s regulatory framework enables innovative, new mobility technologies, reflecting the needs of business users and end customers.
  • Act as a transparent and constructive stakeholder both internally and externally, to build lasting relationships with policymakers and key partners in Westminster, Whitehall, local authorities and beyond.
  • Develop and deliver campaigns, events and engagement strategies to deepen Uber’s partnership with cities and organisations across the UK.
  • Analyse and navigate the national and local political environment to advocate for Uber’s priorities, through existing knowledge of local and national political processes.
  • Collaborate with other teams throughout the business including Operations, Communications, Legal and Marketing – providing strategic advice across a range of core areas to the business.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Ideally 10+ years of experience in Government, Parliament, public affairs or consultancy.
  • A self‑starter: All of us at Uber seek to work with people who enjoy solving problems and building things from the bottom up. Projects can change fast and you need to be highly adaptable, as well as calm under pressure.
  • An exceptional advocate: We’re looking for people who can distill complex ideas into simple, clear points. You’ll need to write well and be comfortable speaking to a range of senior stakeholders – about our products, people and the ways we’re working to improve life for customers, earners, partners and cities.
  • An expert negotiator: An ideal candidate will know how to navigate complex partnerships in both the private and public sector spheres, creating outcomes that are respectful of everyone’s needs.
  • A positive teammate: Success at Uber depends on your capacity to coordinate with different teams (internally and externally) around shared goals. It’s why we’re seeking well‑organized people that enjoy working with others to get stuff done – and who can deal with the ambiguity that sometimes comes from working cross‑functionally.

Uber’s mission is to reimagine the way the world moves for the better. Here, bold ideas create real‑world impact, challenges drive growth, and speed fuels progress. What moves us, moves the world – let’s move it forward, together.

Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Uber’s cultural identity. Unless formally approved to work fully remotely, Uber expects employees to spend at least half of their work time in their assigned office. For certain roles, such as those based at green‑light hubs, employees are expected to be in‑office for 100% of their time. Please speak with your recruiter to better understand in‑office expectations for this role.

Accommodations may be available based on religious and/or medical conditions, or as required by applicable law. To request an accommodation, please reach out to accommodations@uber.com.
