The Global Public Safety Liaison team consists of highly motivated professionals responsible for interactions with law enforcement and public safety agencies. We are committed to safety and privacy and constantly seek to build trust within our law enforcement and public health communities.
We are looking for a Public Safety Liaison Manager for Europe, a dynamic role with varied responsibilities and minimal supervision. You will manage Uber's relationships with public safety authorities across Europe, focusing on the UK and Ireland. This includes developing innovative solutions to engage with law enforcement and public health agencies, while promoting Uber's commitment to safety, privacy, and transparency. In this role, you will also guide the business on partnering with law enforcement to enhance platform and community safety. Additionally, you'll support law enforcement during critical incidents and protests, helping to navigate investigations and ensure smooth collaboration.
What The Candidate Will Do
- Lead cross-functional engagement (legal, policy, product, operations, incident response communications) on public safety matters.
- Contribute to the response to critical incidents (as necessary) directing staff conducting complex and/or critical investigations.
- Develop, manage and sustain operational relationships with strategic/regional Public Safety and industry counterparts.
- Solve regional challenges and utilize internal/external network when needed.
- Comfortable being on-call for after-hours assistance to team members who respond to 24/7 emergencies.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders including regional Legal, Policy, Safety Comm's, Safety Product, etc.
- Be prepared to travel within the area of responsibility.
- Be prepared to testify at court.
Basic Qualifications
- 8+ years of subject matter expertise gained within a criminal investigations role within the private sector, policing agency, prosecutors and/or data protection authorities.
- Expertise in data protection legislation and criminal/administrative investigations.
- Investigative supervision, including supervision within an interagency or task force environment, is preferred.
- Expert in technical lines of enquiry including communications and location data analysis.
- Demonstrable commitment to Organizational ethics including a respect for data privacy and public safety.
- Subject matter expert in regional data disclosure obligations.
- Deep understanding of responsibilities of a data controller.
- Able to participate in and influence operational decision making with appropriate stakeholders.
- Demonstrates high-quality decision-making.
- Confident and articulate communicator both 1:1 and when presenting to an audience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of Uber's business model, products, and privacy policy.
- Highly knowledgeable about Uber's global data privacy policy.
- Command of another European language would be a strong asset.
