As a category development & insights manager you will build relationships with and deepen our partnerships with key merchants, acting as a trusted advisor on range, pricing, and promotions by leveraging key insights from our own performance data while promoting our position as industry experts with our partners. This person will be leading the Category Development and Insights Team for Uber Retail. The purpose of the role is to drive sustainable Grocery growth by shaping pricing, promotions, and assortment strategy through rigorous data analysis and clear commercial direction — influencing both internal growth teams and external merchant partners. The role will define the strategy across pricing, promotions and assortment. The role will navigate ambiguity with ease, with a bias for delivering impactful commercial recommendations.

What You'll Do:

  • Define and execute the category strategy across pricing, promotions, and assortment to drive sustainable top line growth.
  • Lead deep-dive analyses on performance drivers, customer behavior, and promotional effectiveness to inform high-impact decisions.
  • Partner closely with Consumer Growth and Commercial teams to align on growth bets and economic guardrails.
  • Present actionable, data-backed recommendations to senior internal stakeholders and large retail merchant partners.
  • Manage and coach a high performing team.

What We're Seeking:

  • 6+ years of experience in insights, strategy, category management, commercial analytics, consulting, or marketplace businesses with demonstrated impact on revenue and growth outcomes.
  • Strong analytical capability with fluency in data-driven decision-making (e.g., pricing, experimentation, contribution analysis, performance modelling). Must be proficient in SQL.
  • Proven experience influencing senior cross-functional stakeholders and translating complex analysis into clear commercial recommendations.
  • Managed a technical team.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in grocery, retail, marketplace, consumer product or consumer tech environments with exposure to pricing, promotions, and assortment strategy.
  • Background in top-tier strategy consulting, retail category strategy, category development, or high-growth marketplace businesses.
  • Deep understanding of experimentation design, incrementality measurement, and unit economics.
  • Demonstrated experience building frameworks and operating models in ambiguous environments.
