This is a crucial role within the Engineering leadership team and will ensure the engineering team runs smoothly, safely and efficiently. Ensures all maintenance activities are completed to the highest standards. This role involves managing a team, coordinating resources, and ensuring adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that your teams and you comply with all Health and Safety regulations and safe working practice as required by current legislation and the Company’s Health and Safety Policy and practices.
  • Line management for engineers and vessel appearance teams supported by sub-contractors to maximize engineering productivity for planned and unplanned engineering tasks in support of vessel operational demands and ensuring the highest standards for vessel appearance.
  • Ensure the plan is delivered and reasons known why when not.
  • Develop, document, and maintain processes, procedures, and guidelines to ensure adherence to safety and quality standards across all engineering activities.
  • Manage and monitor maintenance activities ensuring all maintenance is completed in line with the agreed plan and is correctly recorded on Centrik.
  • Responsible for managing and maintaining contractor relationships as allocated by HOD.
  • Ensure all work packages are completed in accordance with procedures in place.
  • Provide and promote the highest level of customer service.
  • Continuously seek ways to improve personal, team and business performance.
  • Ensure that all relevant information is communicated speedily and accurately in a way that ensures that the information is received and easily understood.
  • Ensure that all materials and resources are effectively and efficiently utilized to minimize waste and reduce costs.
  • Act as deputy to the Head of Engineering and Vessel Appearance.
  • Undertake any other relevant duties or reasonable request as requested by the HOD and any member of the senior management team.
  • Assist with general engineering departmental functions including but not limited to holiday cover duties for other members of the senior engineering team, Centrik, Stock System, liaise with finance on departmental budget performance.
  • Identify barriers to change and find ways to create solutions to enable change to take place.
  • Continuously seek ways to improve personal, team, business processes, environmental standards and overall business performance with a focus on safety, quality and customer experience.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years experience working in a transport regulated engineering organisation.
  • Experience managing engineers or technical teams.
  • Relevant experience of working in high pressure environments whilst maintaining high levels of safety and maintenance practices.
  • Familiarisation with the management of ISM compliance.
  • Familiarisation with the IMO High Speed Craft Code.
  • Previous experience and knowledge working to ISO 9001, 14001.
