The Director of Project Delivery is responsible for leading the successful planning, execution, and delivery of key strategic and operational projects across the business. This role ensures that the project portfolio aligns with company strategy, delivers value, and maintains operational excellence. The role requires close collaboration with cross -functional teams and external partners to ensure timely and effective delivery of business -critical initiatives.

Key Responsibilities<\/b>

• Lead the governance and oversight of the project portfolio, reviewing in -year performance and delivery milestones in line with organisational strategy.

• Assess programme relevance and recommend strategic or operational adjustments to improve delivery effectiveness and long -term impact.
  <\/li>
• Prioritise projects based on business impact, resourcing, and risk.
  <\/li>
• Monitor and manage project progress, proactively identifying risks, bottlenecks, and delivery issues; implement corrective actions where needed.
  <\/li>
• Provide direction and leadership to cross -functional teams, ensuring clarity of objectives, accountability, and collaborative execution.
  <\/li>
• Act as primary liaison between executive leadership and project teams.
  <\/li>
• Implement and maintain robust governance frameworks, including project approval processes, change controls, and delivery standards.
  <\/li>
• Act as the senior point of contact for third -party contractors, vendors, and delivery partners, ensuring performance and contract compliance.
  <\/li>
• Develop and maintain project controls, reporting frameworks, and delivery standards in line with best practice and business requirements.
  <\/li>
• Collaborate with Finance, Operations, and other business units to ensure resource planning and budget alignment.
  <\/li>
• Support continuous improvement in project delivery processes, using lessons learned and performance data to drive enhancements.

  Requirements<\/h3>Qualifications and experience<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>Degree in relevant field such as Project Management, Engineering, Transport Operations, Business Administration, or Construction Management preferred.<\/li>Proven experience (typically 6+ years) in programme or project delivery, ideally within the transport, maritime, infrastructure, or public sector preferred.<\/li>Strong track record of leading complex, cross -functional programmes involving internal and external stakeholders.<\/li>Demonstrable experience in contractor and vendor management, including performance monitoring and dispute resolution.<\/li>Proficient in project management methodologies and tools (e.g. PRINCE2, MSP, Agile, or equivalent).<\/li>Consistent experience of managing project capital budgets of over £5m<\/li>Ability to interpret strategic goals and translate them into deliverable action plans.<\/li><\/ul><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>Behavioural Competencies:<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>Excellent communication and negotiation skills<\/li>Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills.<\/li>Strategic mindset with the ability to navigate ambiguity.<\/li>Skilled at influencing and engaging stakeholders across all levels.<\/li>High attention to detail and results -driven mentality.<\/li>Calm under pressure, with excellent problem -solving ability<\/li><\/ul><\/div><\/span>
