The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 Β£ per year.
This is a crucial role within the Engineering leadership team and is the key link to the company Risk, Safety and Compliance team. The Quality Manager will ensure the department has robust standards and ensures standards are being adhered to. This role oversees all quality assurance and control processes, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and ensures compliance with relevant internal, regulatory, customer, and industry standards.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Lead Auditor or Quality Management certification (ISO 9001, 14001) preferred.
- Extensive technical knowledge, with a transport background.
- Minimum 3 yearsβ experience in a quality or compliance management role within the maritime or transport sector.
- Experienced in regulatory environments, setting standards and conducting audits.
- Relevant experience of working in high pressure environments whilst maintaining high levels of safety and maintenance practices.
- Familiarisation with the management of ISM compliance.
- Familiarisation with the IMO High Speed Craft Code.
- Previous experience and knowledge working to ISO 9001, 14001 and OHSAS18001 standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adhere to all Health and Safety regulations, including best working practices and housekeeping for a heavy engineering environment.
- Produce regular reports and key performance indicators (KPIs) on quality, safety performance, and compliance.
- Create standard checklists for Engineers to follow to ensure there is a UBTC standard to completing tasks.
- Develop, document, and maintain processes, procedures, and guidelines to ensure adherence to safety and quality standards across all engineering activities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable maritime regulations, including MCA legislation, Port of London Authority (PLA) requirements, and International Safety Management (ISM) Code.
- Ensure the department is ready for any external audits at any time, including but not limited to the annual DOC audit, ensuring consistent, year round compliance.
- Ensure compliance of Tools and Equipment (T&E) is maintained in all our Engineering facilities.
- Conduct internal audits, prepare corrective and preventative action plans as needed.
- Lead investigations into service disruptions, incidents, and non-conformances; identify root causes and drive corrective and preventive actions to fully close out the issue in a timely manner within our SMS.
- Create Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) for tasks regularly completed within department.
- Create and/or review Risk Assessments (RA) for tasks undertaken within the department, working with others in the department to ensure implementation.
- Assist in developing and maintaining effective teamwork within departments, ensuring that there is always a safety and customer centric focus embedded in all aspects of work.
- Develop and deliver training to staff on quality standards, safety awareness, and operational best practices.
- Identify barriers to change and find ways to create solutions to enable change to take place.
- Develop and maintain parts quality standards, ensuring all components meet engineering specifications, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
- Oversee Engineering Environmental quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with ISO 14001 standards and company sustainability objectives.
- Continuously seek ways to improve personal, team, business processes, environmental standards and overall business performance with a focus on safety, quality and customer experience.
- Undertake any other relevant duties or reasonable request as requested by the HOD and any member of the senior management team.
