JOB SUMMARY
This is a fixed-term contract for a hands‑on technical integration role within the IT team, focused on delivering a strategic customer data platform acting as a central customer repository.
The role will play a key part in the technical design, integration architecture, API connectivity, troubleshooting, and successful implementation of multiple connected retail systems.
Working closely with business stakeholders and third‑party implementation partners, the role will define technical requirements, validate business needs, assure solution design, resolve integration challenges, and ensure robust end‑to‑end system operation.
Following delivery of the core customer repository, the role will lead the technical integration of additional customer‑facing systems, driving seamless data exchange, authentication, loyalty, and personalisation capabilities across the technology landscape.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Strong hands‑on experience in system integration, API development, and database technologies.
- Proven track record in project engineering or technical delivery roles within IT environments.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and oversee implementation.
- Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including working with external vendors.
- Proactive, action‑driven, and comfortable in a fast‑paced environment.
- 7- 10 Years experience of System Integration as part of technology projects
- Helpful but not essential to have experience with customer data platforms, loyalty systems, or personalisation engines.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure, M365, and modern API frameworks.
- Familiarity with data security standards and GDPR compliance.
- Desirable to have a degree‑level qualification in IT or related discipline and project management certifications (Prince2 / Agile).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Technical Integration Engineering (60%)
- Validate solution designs produced by third‑party vendors.
- Ensure API specifications, interface definitions and data mappings meet business requirements.
- Review technical architecture and challenge vendor recommendations where necessary.
- Act as the technical authority across the customer repository and connected systems.
- Coordinate and manage technical dependencies between multiple third‑party suppliers.
- Lead technical issue resolution, defect management and integration troubleshooting.
- Ensure end‑to‑end solution integrity across authentication, customer data, loyalty and personalisation services.
- Review testing evidence and validate that solutions meet functional and non-functional requirements.
- Ensure security, GDPR and operational support requirements are incorporated into designs.
- Provide technical assurance through design reviews, implementation reviews and go‑live readiness assessments.
- Business Analysis & Requirements (30%)
- Work closely with business stakeholders to understand customer, operational and commercial requirements.
- Facilitate workshops to capture and document business processes, use cases and functional requirements.
- Translate business needs into technical and integration requirements.
- Challenge and validate requirements to ensure underlying business objectives are understood.
- Assess business impact, process implications and operational considerations of proposed designs.
- Support prioritisation of requirements and management of scope throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Assist with user acceptance testing and business readiness activities.
- Work Package Management (10%)
- Manage assigned work packages and technical deliverables within agreed timelines.
- Track technical risks, issues and dependencies and ensure appropriate mitigation actions.
- Coordinate activities between internal teams and third‑party suppliers.
- Provide concise progress updates to project stakeholders and governance forums.
