JOB SUMMARY This role works in close collaboration with the Risk, Safety & Compliance to ensure all Uber Boat by Thames Clipper vessels remain compliant under UK flag rules and ensure Safety remains our number one priority. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE β Minimum afloat experience as First mate (or higher rank) β UK Boatmastersβ Licence (BML) or Certificate of Competency (CoC) preferred. β Experience managing Statutory Flag, and Classification requirements. β Experience in high-speed craft and passenger operations. β Experience in managing safe systems of works, & vessel operational procedures/manuals. β Experience in vessel ISM audits and safety inspections. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES β Maintain all vessel manuals, safety plans, and safety management systems are current, and meet legal and regulatory compliance across the business. β Support the Head of Risk, Safety and Compliance-DP to engender a safety-first culture throughout the business, this includes regularly reviewing the effectiveness of the Safety Management System (SMS), ensuring compliance with the ISM & HSCC. β Lead and coordinate the internal ISM/ISO auditing programme, ensuring audits are conducted in line with the audit matrix and timelines are met. β Ensure that all ships certification is maintained and up to date. β Liaise with regulatory bodies, classification societies, flag states, and port authorities during inspections and audits. β Conduct vessel and site inspections to ensure company and regulatory standards are met. β To ensure all incident & Near miss reports are investigated, closed in a timely manner and any lessons learnt shared with the relevant departments. β To hold safety meetings with company safety reps and to collate and review all reports from Safety Committees to ensure the appropriate action is taken to address safety problems β Working closely with all Managers to identify safety training needs, supporting the scoping, design and delivery of suitable training to meet identified needs for safety and compliance. β Observe and analyse trends within the Centrik reporting structure and NCNβs including technical reports, and ensure mitigations are implemented to prevent recurrence. β Assist the department in monitoring changes in maritime legislation, codes, and best practices, ensuring company policies and SMS documentation are updated accordingly. β Work collaboratively across departments, ensuring safety and compliance considerations are embedded in new projects, vessel modifications, and operational planning β Stay up to date with developments in maritime legislation, safety innovations, and industry best practices, sharing learnings across the organisation and supporting continuous improvement β Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to engage crews and managers, promoting accountability and ownership of safety at every level BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES: β Communication β Collaborative β Innovative β Influential LOCATION AND TRAVEL Located at Trinity Buoy Wharf working variable hours if required.
