Job Description

We are looking for a Welder to carry out and maintain all welding and fabrication works here at Uber Boat by Thames Clippers.

You’ll liaise with the Dry Dock team to ensure fabrication works are integrated into the overall plan and assist with continuous improvement of vessel structures to ensure an efficient operation.

Not only will you carry out structure repair on all ramps, you’ll assist with in water repairs where appropriate under direction of the Head of Engineering.

You’ll assist with maintenance and repair of floating facilities and manage all welding materials, stores and equipment within your area of responsibility.

While ensuring that the appropriate materials and equipment are used for each job, you will report back to the senior engineering team in accordance with internal processes and procedures.

Maintaining a safe and professional working environment is key, including provision of advanced PPE, completion of all HSE compliance paperwork and identifying any training needs within the team.

We are looking for someone with coded welder C/W certification and experience in aluminium fabrication/welding. You’ll have poof of welder approvals to BSEN ISO 9609-2 : 2004 or similar Class Society assessed welding procedures.

You’ll be Mig/Tig welding capable with mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium and you’ll ensure you have the correct certificates to complete the required tasks.

An effective communicator, you’ll be a team player with a commitment to delivering the best. You’ll also be able to work flexibly to accommodate dry docking requirements.

Experience in a shipbuilding/dry docking environment would be useful but is not essential.

Where: You’ll be based between our Dry Dock facilities at Tilbury and our offices at Clipper House, Trinity Buoy Wharf, London E14 0JY.
