We’re looking for an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer who combines deep hands on Azure expertise with strong engineering and consulting skills. You’ll work on complex enterprise cloud programmes, taking technical ownership of Azure environments and helping clients successfully build, migrate and modernise their infrastructure.
The Role
As a Senior Cloud Engineer at UBDS, you’ll design, build and migrate enterprise scale Azure environments, working closely with architects, security specialists, delivery teams and client stakeholders. This is a hands on engineering role. You’ll be expected to get into the technical detail, solve complex problems and ensure solutions are secure, automated, resilient and ready for production.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build and manage enterprise scale Microsoft Azure environments
- Lead and deliver Azure build, migration and modernisation activities
- Build and manage Windows and Linux infrastructure within Azure
- Develop reusable Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and ARM / Bicep
- Design and implement Azure networking, connectivity, compute, storage and platform services
- Embed security, identity, governance, monitoring and resilience into Azure environments
- Automate infrastructure deployment and configuration through modern DevOps and CI/CD practices
- Troubleshoot complex cloud infrastructure and connectivity issues
- Provide technical assurance through design and code reviews
- Produce clear technical documentation, implementation plans and operational guidance
- Work directly with clients to understand requirements and translate them into pragmatic technical solutions
- Mentor and support other engineers, helping raise engineering standards across delivery teams
What We’re Looking For
- Extensive hands on experience delivering Microsoft Azure infrastructure within enterprise environments
- Proven experience delivering Azure build and migration programmes, including provisioning enterprise scale environments
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and ARM / Bicep
- Strong Windows and Linux Azure VM experience
- Good understanding of Azure architecture, networking, identity, security and governance
- Experience delivering secure, production grade cloud infrastructure
- Strong troubleshooting and problem solving capability
- Excellent communication skills and confidence working directly with clients and technical stakeholders
- Ability to produce clear, high quality technical documentation
- Microsoft Azure certifications such as Azure Administrator or Azure Solutions Architect, or demonstrable equivalent experience and continued professional development
Azure Technical Experience
We’re particularly interested in experience across several of the following:
- Azure Compute including Virtual Machines, VM Scale Sets, App Services and Azure Functions
- Azure Networking including VNets, ExpressRoute, NSGs, Azure Firewall, Front Door, DNS, UDRs and Traffic Manager
- Azure Storage including Blob Storage, Managed Disks and Azure Files
- Azure Governance including Azure Policy, RBAC, Resource Manager and management group structures
- Azure Operations including Monitor, Defender, Bastion, Automation, Backup and Site Recovery
- Azure migration using Azure Migrate and other enterprise migration tooling
- DevOps, automation and CI/CD practices for cloud infrastructure
Security Clearance
Due to the nature of our client work, you must currently hold Security Check (SC) clearance or be eligible and willing to obtain SC clearance as part of your employment with UBDS Group.
