As a Senior Service Transition Manager at UBDS, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring new and changed services are transitioned into live operations successfully. You’ll work closely with business owners, project managers, architects, engineers, operations teams and clients, acting as the bridge between delivery and BAU. You’ll be trusted to shape transition approaches, define readiness standards and act as a gatekeeper for services ensuring services are operationally ready, well understood and supported from day one. This is a senior, hands-on role with influence across programmes, portfolios and stakeholders.
What You’ll Do
- Act as the primary point of coordination between project teams, operations, suppliers and business stakeholders to enable smooth service transitions.
- Ensure Non-Functional Requirements (including support, resilience, security and performance) are captured, agreed, delivered and formally signed off.
- Work closely with Change and Release functions to plan and execute implementations, avoiding conflicts, freezes and operational risk.
- Lead the transition of services into live operations, including creation and approval of runbooks, SOPs and operational documentation.
- Ensure effective knowledge transfer, playback sessions and validated transition plans are in place so teams can operate services independently.
- Define and agree RACI models, clarifying ownership and responsibilities across all live support teams.
- Design and operate a Service Readiness Process, acting as a gatekeeper to ensure only services that meet agreed criteria are accepted into live.
- Ensure appropriate resourcing, training, tooling, documentation and support arrangements are delivered prior to go-live.
- Confirm training and non-functional requirements are met against agreed Service Acceptance Criteria.
- Review transition and support processes, recommending improvements to drive continuous improvement across service delivery.
What We’re Looking For
Service Transition & Delivery Expertise
- Strong experience successfully transitioning complex services into live operations.
- ITIL Foundation (or equivalent practical experience).
- Proven ability to define and manage service acceptance, readiness and warranty processes.
- Experience producing high-quality operational documentation, runbooks and service reports.
- Service design experience, particularly defining operational and support requirements.
- Good commercial and contract awareness.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to work with senior stakeholders, teams and vendors.
- Proven capability in team and task leadership, coordinating across multiple workstreams.
