Rayo, a UBDS Group company, is looking for a hands-on, Security Cleared AWS Security Engineer to support the secure operation and continual improvement of cloud infrastructure. The role focuses on the technical implementation of security controls, monitoring AWS environments, and responding to security incidents. The successful candidate will strengthen our clientsβ AWS estates through automation, assessment and remediation activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy and maintain AWS security services such as GuardDuty, Inspector, Security Hub, WAF, CloudTrail, KMS and Config.
- Monitor cloud environments for anomalies and respond to security events per defined procedures.
- Automate compliance checks and security enforcement using scripting and IaC tools.
- Perform vulnerability assessments and lead remediation across AWS assets.
- Support internal and external audits by providing evidence and documentation.
- Work with platform and development teams to resolve identified security issues.
- Maintain detailed documentation of security controls, policies and incident response activity.
- Participate in penetration testing, red teaming and security assurance exercises.
- Assist in defining security requirements for new cloud initiatives.
Requirements
- Active SC (Security Check) Clearance required.
- Hands-on experience implementing and supporting AWS security services.
- Strong scripting skills β Python, Bash or similar for automation.
- Understanding of IAM principles, encryption techniques and secure cloud networking.
- Practical knowledge of incident response and vulnerability management processes.
- AWS certification such as AWS Certified Security β Specialty or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator.
- Strong troubleshooting abilities and attention to detail in technical documentation.
Desirable Attributes
- Experience securing containerised environments (e.g., ECS, EKS).
- Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and CI/CD security integration.
- Exposure to SOC functions and tooling.
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and incident response escalation.
