About The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Learn Welsh Swansea Bay Region (LWSBR) team, based within Academi Hywel Teifi at Swansea University. We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Welsh language tutor to help deliver high-quality Welsh courses to a wide range of adult learners.
As a Tiwtor Iaith, you will teach across a variety of levels, from complete beginners to advanced learners, both face-to-face and online. Our courses – based on the national Learn Welsh curriculum – include general provision as well as tailored programmes for workplaces, families, and community groups. A significant part of the role also involves encouraging learners to use Welsh beyond the classroom, supporting a programme of informal learning activities, and helping to create a strong sense of community among learners.
You will play an important part in supporting the Welsh Government’s vision of creating a million Welsh speakers by 2050. By delivering engaging and effective lessons, providing constructive feedback, and nurturing learner confidence, you will be contributing directly to this national goal.
The role requires flexibility and commitment. Many of our courses run in the evenings, with occasional weekend commitments, and you could be called to teach across the Swansea and Neath Port Talbot authority areas. You will also contribute to lesson preparation, learner assessment, marketing and recruitment activities, as well as team meetings and professional development.
We are seeking someone with proven experience of teaching Welsh to Adults to a high standard, excellent interpersonal skills, and a genuine passion for empowering people to learn and use the language. Welsh Language Skills
The Welsh language level required for this role is Level 3 – Fluently. The role holder will be able to conduct a fluent conversation in Welsh on a work-related matter and write original Welsh material with confidence.
