Position Overview
Department: AMG CARDIOVASCULAR SERVICES
Schedule: PRN
Work Location: Cardiology Specialists of Birmingham

What You Will Do
- Perform diagnostic procedures on patients using ultrasound waves to examine tissue and body structure, providing quality images for interpretation.
- Set up and adjust all equipment and manually manoeuvre transducers to perform exams.
- Implement safety standards and perform appropriate quality control procedures.
- Perform routine and complex studies and assist in a variety of cardiac and/or vascular imaging procedures.
- Recognise significant structures, artifacts, pathology and equipment limitations.
- Ensure equipment is properly functioning and report potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel.
- Lock/tag out equipment if appropriate.
- Ensure prompt submission of high-quality images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers and patient data/history).
- Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area and any other areas in the department.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory agencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Will Need
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- One or more of the following required:
- Cardiographic sonographer credentialed from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) issued by (CCI) Cardiovascular Credentialing International (RCS) is accepted.
- Radiologic Technologist specializing in Radiography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained prior to or within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date.
- Radiologic Technologist specializing in Sonography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained prior to or within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date.
- Vascular Technologist (VT) credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained prior to hire date.
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date.
Education:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent with 2 years of experience or Associate’s degree required.
- Graduate of an accredited sonography program preferred.
