UA92 was founded with a clear purpose: to make higher education more accessible and to create opportunities for people. Co-founded by the Class of 92 and Lancaster University, we are proud to challenge some of the traditional thinking around higher education. Social mobility, widening participation and inclusion aren't side projects here; they are part of why UA92 exists. Our students come from different backgrounds, communities and starting points. We want them to leave us with more than a degree. We want them to have the confidence, experiences, connections and opportunities that can change where they go next.
We're looking for a Football & Futsal Development Officer to help us take that experience further. For us, football and futsal aren't only about competition. They can create belonging, bring people together and give students opportunities to lead, coach, officiate, volunteer and build experience that stays with them beyond UA92.
The role sits within Sport92, where you'll take the lead on the development, promotion and day-to-day delivery of football and futsal across UA92. You'll create opportunities for students to get involved at every level from those who simply want to play and meet people, through to our competitive BUCS teams and talented student athletes. A big part of the role is also about what happens beyond playing. You'll develop student leaders and create routes into coaching, officiating and volunteering, helping students gain experience and skills they can take into their future careers.
You'll work closely with students, coaches and colleagues across UA92, while building relationships in the football community. This includes developing our existing partnerships with Manchester United and Salford City FC, as well as creating links with local clubs, academies, schools and community organisations. You'll also help us grow women's football and futsal, develop community programmes, oversee our coaching provision and make sure our teams are ready for training, fixtures and competition.
What you'll bring:
- You'll know football and futsal and understand the difference sport can make to the student experience.
- You’ll bring experience of working in sports administration, ideally within football, alongside experience of coaching football and/or futsal.
- You’ll be comfortable building relationships with students, colleagues and external partners and able to manage several priorities while taking ownership of getting things done.
- You’ll need a UEFA C or equivalent coaching qualification, an undergraduate degree or equivalent professional experience in sport. A UEFA B or equivalent qualification would be an advantage.
- We’re particularly interested in someone who can connect with students from a wide range of backgrounds, understands the HE, BUCS and local football landscape and genuinely wants to open up opportunities for more people to participate and progress through sport.
The particulars:
- Role: Football & Futsal Development Officer
- Salary: £28,500 – £30,000
- Contract: Full-time, permanent
- FTE: 1 (37.5 hours per week)
- Reports to: Head of Sport92
- Location: UA92, Manchester Campuses
- Working pattern: The role will require some flexibility, including occasional evening and weekend working to support activities, fixtures and events.
Please note this role will require a satisfactory enhanced DBS.
