You will serve as a Supervisory Service Nuclear Internal Shop Manager in the Service Shop (Code 990) Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901) Production Resources Department (Code 900) of Norfolk Naval Shipyard.
Duties:
- Review, approve and direct work operations in the execution of a project within an assigned zone of work.
- Determine total resource requirements and allocation based on schedules and work sequences.
- Take necessary actions to achieve cost and schedule commitments.
- Ensure safe work practices are followed.
- Initiate or attend meetings concerning work status.
- Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities and prepare schedules for completion of work.
Conditions of Employment:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
- New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
- Current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level.

- Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
- Must wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously during the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present; must participate in medical surveillance programs.
- May require travel to CONUS and OCONUS, including remote or isolated sites; must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods.
- Must review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct as required for supervisors.
Qualifications:
- At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS‑11 grade level or pay band, or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
- Experience applying a comprehensive range of principles, concepts, and practices concerning shipyard work operations, control system requirements, trade and shop practices, and personnel development in service shops.
- Experience determining and resolving operational and maintenance problems with shipyard and ship's personnel.
- Experience applying extensive administrative knowledge of nuclear production trade work and technical methods, procedures, materials and processes associated with the repair and overhaul of complex Navy vessels.
- Experience interpreting OSHA, NAVSEA, Federal/State environmental regulations and local instructions.
- Experience investigating and analyzing practices and problems to initiate effective improvements and solutions.
