SUPERVISORY SERVICE NUCLEAR INTERNAL SHOP MANAGER

You will serve as a Supervisory Service Nuclear Internal Shop Manager in the Service Shop (Code 990) Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901) Production Resources Department (Code 900) of Norfolk Naval Shipyard.

Duties:

• Review, approve and direct work operations in the execution of a project within an assigned zone of work.
• Determine total resource requirements and allocation based on schedules and work sequences.
• Take necessary actions to achieve cost and schedule commitments.
• Ensure safe work practices are followed.
• Initiate or attend meetings concerning work status.
• Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities and prepare schedules for completion of work.

Conditions of Employment:

• Must wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously during the work shift.
• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present; must participate in medical surveillance programs.
• May require travel to CONUS and OCONUS, including remote or isolated sites; must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods.
• Must review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct as required for supervisors.

Qualifications:

• At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS‑11 grade level or pay band, or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
• Experience applying a comprehensive range of principles, concepts, and practices concerning shipyard work operations, control system requirements, trade and shop practices, and personnel development in service shops.
• Experience determining and resolving operational and maintenance problems with shipyard and ship's personnel.
• Experience applying extensive administrative knowledge of nuclear production trade work and technical methods, procedures, materials and processes associated with the repair and overhaul of complex Navy vessels.
• Experience interpreting OSHA, NAVSEA, Federal/State environmental regulations and local instructions.
• Experience investigating and analyzing practices and problems to initiate effective improvements and solutions.
