Supervisor Nuclear Engineer position in the Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department, Reactor Engineering Division (2310) at Norfolk Naval Shipyard.
Duties:
- Provide professional, technical and administrative supervision, advice and guidance; plan, coordinate and assign projects.
- Perform full scope of supervisory duties over the Reactor Support Branch.
- Set performance standards, evaluate performance.
- Carry out Equal Employment Opportunity policies and communicate support to subordinates.
Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in direct deposit pay program.

- Must meet time-in-grade requirements for existing federal employees.
- Must comply with DoD retirement appointment provisions, selective service registration for males born after Dec 31, 1959, and security clearance requirements.

Qualifications:
- At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to GS‑12 or pay band in federal service, or equivalent private/public sector experience.
- Extensive experience as a Nuclear Engineer with broad technical understanding of other engineering branches and technologies related to ship construction.
- Experience providing expert advice and guidance in functional areas of the branch, including shipyard support systems and temporary services.
- Experience leading a specialized team of engineers; comprehensively manage project execution and personnel administration, including performance evaluations, employee development, and EEO compliance.
Education:
- Successful completion of a professional engineering degree accredited by ABET or meeting specified engineering science coursework.
- Or current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, DC, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
- Or evidence of successfully passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or equivalent.
- Or completion of at least 60 semester hours of core engineering courses meeting basic requirements.
- Or completion of a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate scientific field with at least one year of professional engineering experience under supervision.
