You will serve as a Production Controller in the Production Resources Department of Norfolk Naval Shipyard.
Duties:
- Evaluate overall shop and/or project workload, identify priorities, and recommend shifting assignments accordingly.
- Conduct both long and short-range work schedule planning to identify and coordinate training, medical qualification and work qualification requirements.
- Maintain continuous contact with shop or project superintendents, informing them on potential and accepted work.
- Direct the resource/manning utilizations and planning effort for all shop or project personnel.
- Provide ongoing leadership continuity and perform a variety of requirements for budget, manpower, material, facilities and services necessary to support the Production Resources Department and its subordinate elements.

- Must wear personal protective equipment (helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators, safety shoes) continuously during the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present; must participate in medical surveillance programs.
- May require travel from the normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS, including remote or isolated sites; must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods.
Qualifications:
- GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal Service, or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Experience managing the work packaging function. Experience providing customer service dealing with accepting or rejecting work, scheduling work, material handling and conducting risk assessments. Experience working across organizational lines with diverse entities to ensure project completion. Experience identifying requirements and providing leadership for complex nuclear and interface work. Experience with human resource management and data collection. Experience demonstrating the use of administrative tools for data management, report writing, dashboard creation, and querying.
- GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal Service, or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Experience with naval ship overhaul processes, including production, planning, engineering, and scheduling. Experience quickly conducting risk assessments, identifying potentially adverse impact on shop or project's ability to provide resources and perform work. Experience demonstrating organization, policies and procedures, interfaces, communications, and operations of the shipyard to manage labor and non-labor resources efficiently. Experience applying submarine and nuclear work processes and procedures. Experience with location, capacity, capability and availability of shipyard facilities and services. Experience applying skill in good management practices, including verbal and written communication skills to permit interface at the shop or project superintendent and department head levels.
