LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST (WIL) in Cornholme

Serve as a LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST (WIL) in the Work Integration Branch (C301.22), Operations Department (C300) of Norfolk Naval Shipyard.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure sequencing and scheduling of all work in support of the project team's strategy.
• Determine appropriate levels of work integration, work breakdown structure, and filter for screening non-shipyard work for inclusion of ship project schedules.
• Conduct risk assessments and give recommendations for risk mitigation strategies.
• Make decisions, recommendations and official commitments involving work integration matters.
• Represent project interest in conferences, meetings and personal contacts dealing with non-shipyard activities.

• Position may require travel within CONUS and OCONUS; must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods.

Qualifications:

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS‑09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience should include:

• In-depth knowledge of skilled trades operations, processes and shop work associated with the shipbuilding/repair industry.
• Experience in a variety of support shop operations and practices, sufficient to provide interface recommendations for dealing with cranes and other services for non-shipyard activities.
• Knowledge of ship repair project planning, integration, scheduling and execution strategy.
• Experience in sequencing and timing of key program events and milestones.
• Experience in naval shipyard operations, production and management techniques and concepts, and knowledge of the facility locations, capacities, capabilities, and availability of services of the naval shipyard industrial complex.
• Knowledge of AIM processes and a thorough understanding of each AIM module (Project Management Plan, Contract Administration & Financial Control, Job Planning, Work Packaging and Control, and Execution Control).
• Experience with multi-user/multi-project computer systems, understanding of precedence relationships and links with related project networks; knowledge of Navy, major command, and other levels of maintenance engineering program requirements pertinent to scheduling maintenance requirements.

Education:

Successful completion of a master’s or equivalent graduate degree. OR successful completion of two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master’s degree. OR possession of an LL.B. or J.D. related to this position. OR a combination of experience and graduate education equaling one year of experience.
