The U.S. Embassy in London is looking for a dedicated Custodian (Cleaner) to join our Facilities team. This is a permanent position with excellent benefits and the opportunity to work in a professional international environment.
Responsibilities
- Clean Embassy buildings based on the daily, weekly, and monthly schedule
- Sweep, mop, scrub, and wax floors
- Vacuum and shampoo carpets and furniture
- Clean windows, glass, and metal surfaces
- Clean and disinfect bathrooms
- Dust all areas, including high places
- Clean kitchen equipment and appliances
- Clean outdoor areas including walkways and solar panels
- Use cleaning machines such as vacuum cleaners, floor polishers, and carpet cleaners
Property Preparation
- Clean government properties before and after people move in or out
- Prepare properties for new residents
Other Tasks
- Help with cleaning during office moves and special events
- Respond to emergency cleaning needs
- Report any problems or broken items to your supervisor
Qualifications
- Education: Elementary school completion (or equivalent)
- Experience: Previous experience cleaning commercial or residential properties
- Language: Good working knowledge of English (speaking, reading, and writing)
- Driver's License: Current full manual UK/EU/EEA driver's license - must be able to safely drive a van (class B) in central London
