Overview

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position at VA Boston Healthcare Systems, Plymouth, MA. This is a full-time position at 40 hours per week.

Duties

  • Performs telehealth imaging, including Store and Forward care and imaging and other telehealth programming as identified and referred by the primary care provider, other providers, and the imager.
  • Provides staff, Veterans, families, and caregivers education related to virtual care tools/technology, telehealth care processes, disease processes, disease management and preventative health care.
  • Completes and initiates appropriate clinical reminders, consults, and alerts.
  • Utilizes CPRS Vista Imaging to document telehealth images and CPRS to document clinical observations/information/patient education.
  • Performs auxiliary testing as applicable (e.g., visual acuity, dilation, intraocular pressure, etc.).
  • Serves as a liaison, coordinating information between image readers, primary care providers, specialty care providers, patients, and VA personnel.
  • Installs, maintains, inventories, and trains staff on video conferencing technologies, telehealth peripherals, and scheduling software.
  • Assists with development of policies and procedures related to telehealth to ensure compliance with directives and regulatory guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday, 7:30 am – 4:00 pm.

Environmental/Recruitment Information

  • EDRP Authorized: Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply for incentive. Questions: Karen.Chapman@va.gov.
  • Pay: Competitive salary with regular increases; higher step rate possible for qualifications.
  • Paid Time Off: 37-50 days per year (annual leave, sick leave, federal holidays).
  • Parental Leave: Up to 12 weeks after 12 months of employment.
  • Child Care Subsidy: Eligibility after 60 days of employment for certain income levels.
  • Retirement/Insurance: Federal pension, 401K with VA contributions, and Federal health/vision/dental/etc.
  • Telework: Ad-hoc. Virtual: Not a virtual position.
  • PCS/Relocation: Not Authorized.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Background/security investigation required; pre-employment medical examination may be required.
  • Onboarding process required; acceptable IDs per I-9 form; REAL ID compliance considerations after May 7, 2025.

Qualifications

  • Basic Requirements: United States citizenship; English language proficiency; full, active, current LPN/LVN license; graduation from an approved practical nursing program.

Only education/degrees recognized by the U.S. Department of Education may be used for federal employment. Foreign education requires a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency with transcript.
