This position is located in Frances Perkins National Monument in the Interpretation Division. The typical seasonal period is May – November, though dates may vary due to weather, project needs or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: June 2026.
Major Duties
- Coordinating the operation of a visitor facility and information desk, including developing daily work schedules for tours of duty and assignment locations.
- Developing and presenting a wide variety of formal and informal audience‑centric interpretive experiences through fully developed interpretive skills, techniques, and tools delivered in‑person and through media and technology.
- Training, mentoring, coaching, and evaluating interpretive programs and products.
- Critiquing activities and recommending individual or program improvements.
- Identifying effective customer‑service practices and fostering a collaborative, proactive, and welcoming work environment.
- Coordinating the development and implementation of special projects from inception to completion.
Education
Submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution, including school name, credit hours, course level, major(s) and grade‑point average or class ranking. If education was completed in foreign colleges, show that it has been evaluated by a private organization and deemed equivalent to a U.S. accredited program.

- U.S. citizenship required.
- Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- Must meet Selective Service registration for males.
- Must participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- May be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle; must hold a valid State‑issued driver’s license, submit a photocopy, and provide all certified driving records.
- Must wear a NPS uniform in compliance with standards; a uniform allowance is provided.
- May be required to work evenings and holidays.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Work requires physical exertion, extensive standing and walking, sometimes on rough surfaces or inclines. May involve carrying backpacks, tools, or rescue equipment, sometimes over long distances, and lifting weights over 50 lb. Employees may engage in firefighting, search and rescue, and other strenuous activities. Physical fitness may be evaluated periodically. Working conditions may include exposure to extreme temperatures, rough terrain, wild animals, pests, and other hazards. Protective clothing or gear such as masks, boots, and gloves may be required.
