Within Elavon Gateway Services, we are hiring a Senior Engineering Manager for our ecommerce Payment Gateway. In this role you will lead highly technical and strategic engineering initiatives on mission-critical platforms across our team, enabling every engineer to do their best work. Your role will be tasked with solving complex, challenging technical problems across this team to meet our demanding needs.
You will play an influential role in partnership with the Engineering leadership group and other cross-divisional Engineering managers owning strategy, technical vision and direction for your teams.
Responsibilities- Ensure a high bar of Engineering Excellence within your teams.
- Mature your teams applying DevOps maturity concepts.
- Provide guidance to immediate team of software engineers on daily tasks and activities.
- Set the overall guidance and expectations for team output, practices, and collaboration.
- Anticipate dependencies with other teams to deliver products and applications in line with business requirements.
- Ensure adherence to security and compliance standards, responsible for ensuring teams pass internal and external audits, and ensuring technical ownership and stewardship with appropriate documentation is occurring for your teams.
- Manage stakeholder relationships and the team’s work in accordance with compliance standards, service level agreements, and business requirements.
- Work with the leadership team to find synergies and optimise for our customer’s experience.
- Demonstrable experience in driving results through OKRs and metrics.
- Come from an Engineering background, having grown your career into engineering leadership.
- Managing a global team of 30+ engineers.
- Strong understanding of Java, Redis, SQL, Opensearch, Kubernetes and AWS.
- Possess great instincts and ability to make good judgement calls and execute on those quickly.
- Great communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to influence across teams and with senior stakeholders.
- Drive vision and strategy for our overall architecture to support scale, performance, resiliency and reliability of our platform.
- Extremely proficient in microservices architectures, architecture patterns, having created architectures that allow services to be shipped to production multiple times a day as independently releasable microservices.
- Strong appreciation of Event Storming and DDD having applied these methodologies in shaping microservices architectures.
- Experience in creating / engineering Cloud Native Architectures.
- Some experience with Agentic Engineering.
- Experience in Java within low latency environments.
- Experience of chaos engineering and patterns that ensure high uptime and resiliency.
