We are seeking a compassionate and skilled SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils with complex learning needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), non-verbal communication, and developmental delays. U-Educate work with many SEN Specialist and Primary Schools across Birmingham. You will play a vital role in delivering inclusive education and promoting independence through tailored support strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with ASD and other learning needs.
- Use Makaton and PECS to facilitate communication with non-verbal learners.
- Implement and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans.
- Support pupils with personal care, sensory needs, and emotional regulation.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and external agencies to ensure holistic support.
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and interventions.
Essential Skills & Experience
- At least 3-6 months experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly ASD within the last 3 years.
- Proficiency in Makaton and Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS).
- Experience working with non-verbal pupils and adapting communication strategies.
- Understanding of safeguarding, child development, and inclusive education.
- Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils, families, and staff.
