Materials Buyer – Residential Construction Location – Hertfordshire (St. Albans) Salary – £40,000 to £50,000 U&P are recruiting a Buyer to join one of the nation’s leading 5-star Residential Developers at their regional office in Hertfordshire. As part of the Commercial team, you will be responsible for the purchasing of materials for developments across the region with the objective of sourcing the very best quality products at the best price. This role would suit a candidate who has some experience of commercial procurement and is looking to further develop their career within an organisation that truly values its employees and customers. The Buyer will be responsible for the following key duties across a couple of sites: * Working with group level and local suppliers to schedule material orders, optimising cost and quality at all times * Resolving material specification queries with technical teams to ensure that correct specifications are being used * Producing material cost schedules and budgets for developments and reviewing regularly to ensure that budgets are not exceeded * Requesting quotations and schedules from material suppliers and assessing to ensure suitability * Keeping aware of any material cost increases and forecasting accordingly * Attending development sites to carry out checks on materials and suppliers, producing reports as required * Keeping up to date with new materials and products The Buyer will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience: * Be qualified to NVQ Level 4 (or higher) and carry a valid CSCS card * Have excellent attention to detail, being able to gather, interpret and present data confidently * Be methodical, conscientious and well organised * Possess strong IT skills, including working knowledge of computer systems within the commercial environment * Have the ability to work on own initiative * Have excellent communication skills, in person, written and over the phone * Be able to build effective working relationships and be professional in dealing with internal and external customers This position represents a great opportunity to join a company that offers an excellent benefits package which on top of base salary, includes: * Hybrid work environment * Bonus Scheme * Private Medical Cover * Company Car Allowance * 26 days’ holiday * Choice of Flexible Benefits to suit your situation For further information please don’t hesitate to contact us
