The key responsibility of this position is to ensure that the premium breeding stock are well maintained during the rearing stages (Day old chicks to approximately 18 weeks).
Responsibilities
- Proactively maintain poultry to high standards by:
- Ensuring stock has access to fresh water and a balanced diet for optimal health and vigour.
- Providing an appropriate environment including shelter and comfortable resting areas.
- Preventing pain, injury, or disease through preventative measures, rapid diagnosis, and treatment.
- Providing sufficient space, proper facilities, and social environment with other birds.
- Ensuring conditions and treatment avoid mental suffering.
- Observing hygiene rules, including personal hygiene, hand washing, boot dipping/changing, and wearing protective clothing.
- Recording data such as bird weight, feed intake, and mortality.
- Strictly adhering to all bio-security protocols.
- Ensuring accurate weighing of food.
- Maintaining house hygiene—dusting, cleaning light fixtures, sweeping, managing litter, and boot dips.
- Keeping the farm clean and tidy.
- Following all health and safety procedures.
- Performing any other reasonable duties as directed by the Farm Manager.
