Associate / Associate Director – Engineer (Sports & Entertainment)

Full-Time On-site
T

Tyréns Hilson Moran is growing its Sports & Entertainment MEP capability. We are looking for a mechanical/electrical engineer who has delivered design on stadia, arenas and venues, and who brings the client and project relationships that come with a strong delivery record. You will join an active portfolio and pipeline, working alongside our existing Associate Director and Sector Lead.

Purpose of the Role

You will lead design delivery across Sport & Entertainment projects in the UK and internationally, from concept through to construction and handover.

The core requirement is a proven track record of successfully delivering design on Sport & Entertainment projects, ideally including arenas. Just as important are the established relationships you have built through that delivery, with clients, architects, project managers and cost consultants who have worked with you and trust your work.

Alongside delivery, you will support the Sector Lead in growing the business. That means drawing on your relationships, contributing technical leadership to bids and proposals, and joining client meetings and pitches where relevant. You will not be expected to lead business development on your own.

Key Responsibilities

Design delivery

  • Lead mechanical and electrical design delivery for Sport & Entertainment projects from concept through to construction and handover.
  • Coordinate with design engineers across disciplines to deliver integrated MEP solutions.
  • Review calculations, specifications and drawings to make sure they meet the client brief and our quality and compliance standards.
  • Identify risks and design challenges early, and develop solutions that keep projects on programme.

Clients and commercial management

  • Manage project client relationships and act as a trusted technical point of contact for clients and the wider design team.
  • Manage project commercial performance, including identifying changes in scope and agreeing fee and programme revisions with the client.

Supporting business growth

  • Provide technical leadership for Sport & Entertainment bids and proposals, including fee proposals and presentations.
  • Support business development across the sector, drawing on relationships built through your project delivery.
  • Accompany the Sector Lead in client meetings and pitches where relevant, helping to build relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Prepare project references and case studies that showcase the team’s sector work.

People

  • Provide line management and technical mentoring to junior mechanical engineers as the team expands.
  • Share knowledge and support the development of early career colleagues.
  • Act in line with our values and our commitments.

Essential Experience

  • Chartered status with CIBSE or IMechE.
  • Proven MEP design experience on Sport & Entertainment projects, preferably including arenas.
  • Established relationships within the sector, built on a positive track record of project delivery.
  • Confidence leading a discipline on complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • UK design experience across RIBA Stages 1–6.
  • Project commercial management and control.

Desirable

  • International project experience.
  • Working knowledge of Broadcast, AV, ICT & Security where it interfaces with MEP design. Exposure in this area is a strong differentiator rather than a core requirement.
  • Experience collaborating with specialist AV, ICT & Security consultants.
  • A network of sector-relevant architects, project managers and cost consultants.

Benefits

  • Enhanced annual leave entitlement of 25 days per annum, plus public holidays. Your annual leave entitlement will increase based on length of service with us up to 28 days plus public holidays.
  • Enhanced company pension contribution.
  • Annual budget to spend on personal wellbeing activities.
  • Access to our healthcare scheme.
  • Access to confidential wellbeing support services via our Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Paid volunteering days to support causes important to you.
  • Fun company events including our annual winter party and our full company summer social.
  • Season ticket loans.
  • Cycle to work scheme.
  • Options for unpaid leave and career breaks.

All Applications will be treated in the strictest confidence. Tyréns Hilson Moran is an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all communities
