Weare excited to recruit a Pharmacy Technician to work within our modern andexpanding Pharmacy Team. The successful candidate will work between30 to 37.5 hours per week.

Aspart of their employment the postholder will work within and be supported bythe Pharmacy Team (Clinical Pharmacist Independent Prescriber and PrescribingClerk) to deliver patient-facing Pharmacy services within a busy GP practice toa population of 11,900 patients.

Thepost holder is a Pharmacy Technician who works independently within themultidisciplinary team and within their professional boundaries. They willimprove patients\' health outcomes and the efficiency of the Pharmacy Team byproviding direct, accessible, and timely medicines and expertise includingface-to-face contact with patients. The post holder will be an integral part ofthe General Practice team.

Main duties of the job

Pharmacy technicians core role responsibilities will cover clinical, and technical and administrative categories.

The purpose of the role is to lead to improvements to maximise safe, cost-effective best practice in prescribing to improve the quality of patient care. The post holder will help patients to get the best from their medicines by dealing with medication for patients recently discharged from hospital, helping the practice deliver on the QAIF and QOF agenda and enhanced services, delivering repeat prescription reviews, being a point of contact for medicine-related queries, contributing to the practices repeat prescription policy, audit and education and medicines management. This role will also cover minimising clinical risk and aiming to reduce wasted medicines.

In addition, the post holder will be responsible for encouraging the development of better understanding of the principles of medicines optimisation throughout the practice teams and promoting good practice in line with therapeutic developments. This will involve assisting the practice in achieving national requirements, NICE implementation, and utilisation of medicines optimisation initiatives.

Our team consistsof 8 GP Partners, 3 Salaried GPs, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants,Clinical Pharmacist, Prescribing Clerk, Practice Manager, Deputy PracticeManager, Senior Receptionist, Administrator and Receptionist Administrators.

Tyr Felin is oneof four local GP Practices that are part of Llwchwr Cluster with whom we workwith collaboratively to provide enhanced care and services to our patients.

We are keen tosupport staff development and offer in-house and external trainingopportunities

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) [essential]
  • BTEC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences
  • Evidence of continued professional development (CPD)

Experience

  • Experience of working as a qualified, registered pharmacy technician in community pharmacy, hospital pharmacy or primary care.
  • Demonstrate ability to influence and persuade partners and stakeholders of the respective merits of different options, innovations, new opportunities and challenges.
  • Relevant advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of General Practice and evidence-based medicine
  • An appreciation of the NHS agenda and Government targets
  • Awareness of systems to support management of patients in a primary care setting, delivering pharmaceutical input and support in the context of pathways of care and the business of the organisation(s)
