About the Company

Typeform is a refreshingly different form builder. We help over 150,000 businesses collect the data they need with forms, surveys, and quizzes that people enjoy. Designed to look striking and feel effortless to fill out, Typeform drives 500 million responses every year—and integrates with essential tools like Slack, Zapier, and Hubspot.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Staff AI Engineer to join our Engineering Excellence team and play a strategic leadership role across product, platform, and architecture. You’ll work closely with our high-performing Formless team to design, build, and scale AI capabilities that are core—not additive—to our platform. This role is both deeply technical and highly strategic, requiring a mix of hands-on engineering, architectural vision, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Shape the future of AI at Typeform: You’ll lead the design of AI capabilities that are core to our architecture—not just add-ons. Your work will set the foundation for how AI is embedded across products, ensuring reliability, scalability, and customer value.
  • Drive architectural decisions and long-term vision: You’ll define and influence technical direction for AI systems, bringing thought leadership on agentic workflows, LLMs, and scalable AI infrastructure. You’ll ensure our systems are future-ready while grounded in practical, maintainable solutions.
  • Accelerate innovation across teams: Partnering closely with Formless and other product teams, you’ll unblock delivery by bringing deep expertise and strategic clarity to high-impact projects. You’ll introduce reusable patterns, smart defaults, and technical guidance that speed up development across the org.
  • Elevate engineering excellence: You’ll mentor engineers across teams, introduce best practices for AI/ML development, and improve how we build, test, and operate AI systems. Your leadership will raise the technical bar and foster a culture of continuous learning and experimentation.
  • Bridge strategy and execution: You’ll bring strong product thinking to the table, collaborating with stakeholders across Product, Design, and Engineering to align AI investments with business goals. You’ll help translate complex problems into pragmatic, impactful solutions.

Qualifications

We’re looking for a deeply technical and strategically-minded engineer who’s passionate about using AI to shape the future of product experiences. You’re someone who can think big, move fast, and help others do the same, especially when the path forward isn’t fully defined.

Required Skills

  • Have extensive hands-on experience with AI/ML systems, including building and deploying models in production environments. You’re fluent in Python and comfortable working across GoLang and TypeScript stacks.
  • Are well-versed in modern AI tooling and services - especially LLMs, RAG pipelines, agentic AI architectures, and cloud platforms like AWS. You know how to go from idea to implementation with confidence.
  • Thrive in high-autonomy environments. You can define direction, make architecture decisions, and bring others along, even when requirements are ambiguous or evolving.
  • Love solving complex technical problems, especially those that require cross-functional alignment. You think in systems and build with long-term scalability in mind.
  • Have a strong product mindset. You care deeply about the end-user experience and collaborate closely with designers and PMs to ensure technical solutions truly serve customer needs.
  • Lead with empathy. Whether mentoring teammates, reviewing code, or influencing execs, you build trust and raise the bar through thoughtful, inclusive communication.
  • Believe in building for the future. You\'re motivated by technical excellence, and you naturally push for better tools, processes, and practices.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in conversational AI, NLP, or building agentic workflows.
  • Familiarity with real-time systems and event-driven architectures.
  • Contributions to open source or technical thought leadership in the AI space.

Pay range and compensation package

Typeform drives hundreds of millions of interactions each year, enabling conversational, human-centered experiences across the globe. We move as one team, empowering our collective efforts by valuing each individual’s unique perspective. This fosters strong bonds grounded in respect, transparency, and trust. We champion our diverse customer base by anticipating their needs and addressing their challenges with priority. Committed to excellence, we hold high expectations for ourselves and each other, continuously striving to deliver exceptional results.
